Le dandysme anglais / English dandyism
En se baladant avec Danny (aka Falsalama) sur la rive sud de la Tamise, chassant comme à notre habitude les photos, lui au 'Blad et moi au Bessa, nous avons rencontré cet étrange personnage, comme issu d'un autre temps...
Bien-sûr nous *devions* lui tirer le portrait ! Le problème principal résidait dans le fait que Danny devait recharger son 'Blad pour pouvoir prendre sa photo alors que j'avais déjà fini mes quelques clichés. J'ai donc dû raconter un monceau incroyable de considérations farfelues pseudo-artistiques pour faire en sorte que le type ne s'en aille pas rejoindre ses potes qui commençaient à s'impatienter. A la fin j'en ai été réduit à inventer un projet de comparaison entre les bienfaits des moyen-formats et des télémétriques dans le portrait de rue. Danny se marrait pas mal, ce qui avait pour effet pervers de ralentir le chargement de la pellicule et donc de me faire devoir raconter encore plus d'âneries. Un cercle vicieux...

When we saw that guy we instantly wanted to take a picture but Danny's Blad was empty and he had to reload it. I shot my two pictures and then started to say a lot of bullshit to have the guy stay there, waiting for ages as Danny was desperately fumbling on the ground. At the end the story was that we were on a project to compare medium-format and rangefinders in the context of street-photography portraits. Danny was trying not to laugh as I was working my way painfully from loads of artsy-fartsy considerations, which incidentally had the effect of making the reloading process even slower...
